Presentation -Hayden Van Hooff
Hayden has had a passionate interest in many species of birds for over 29 years and has worked with finches, game birds and parrots throughout that time.
As a youngster growing up, Hayden started with finches, budgies and cockatiels and at age 11 the late Mrs Pauline Colpman took Hayden under her wing teaching him how to hand raise and breed the larger species of parrots. Shortly after, Hayden started moving into the larger and less common species of parrots.
On finishing Secondary school, he directed himself to animal training for film and television, working on feature films and TV commercials training a range of animal species from rats through to cattle.
Parrots and birds were always Hayden's interest and speciality. Over time Hayden moved into the wildlife field working at a few wildlife parks around NZ breeding Kakariki, Kaka and occasionally Kea as well as various species of exotic birds.
Hayden is currently the President of the Parrot Society of New Zealand.
Hayden will be giving us an informative talk on the parrot ban in Auckland and the ordeal the Parrot Society of New Zealand and breeders in New Zealand have gone through in fighting it.
Please join us at Parrot Supplies Australia in Slacks Creek from 3pm for the meeting. The store will be open from 9am on the day. There will also be Raffles and a Lucky Door Prize.
We will include light refreshments and a BBQ.
